Coffee Talk | About the Workplace

This past Friday at our bi-weekly East Austin Coffee we had plenty of good conversations but one that grabbed everyone’s attention and had the most feedback was leadership. We keep hearing talk that there is a labor shortage but could it be there is a lost commitment to connection disrupting success stories because of a lack of something we are not discussing more openly? No doubt the return to work/office after the pandemic has impacted all businesses. Combined with the economic ‘calamity’ it is critical to understand, How does one recruit and retain employees? Creating an environment that allows room for development using effective communication, beginning with intentional listening skills and interacting in a way that allows others to thrive.

Starting a new role can be exciting and full of promise. Learning “how to dance” with your team, as put by Samantha Joy Perez with Sky Realty is not only fun but a key ingredient in the recipe to result in positive growth. It’s like the first day in any 101intro-course, we walk into a new space off rhythm, tripping over ourselves and others, learning a new discourse with a genuine interest to be a piece of the puzzle and achieve future vision and goals.
